BUUURRRP! I shouldn't have eaten that fish, it keeps repeating on me! The action takes place a year after the events of the first film. Lucas,the captain of the original boat has returned to the Black Lagoon in his new vessel, the Rita II with a couple of hunters on board. They plan to capture the Gill Man and take him back to civilisation as an exhibit in the Florida Marine World. As they enter the Lagoon we are treated to the sight of Gilly catching a big bird for his tea, yum yum. One of the hunters goes down wearing a deep sea diver's outfit and the monster attacks him, but is driven off when the boat crew open fire with rifles. The team then set off several dynamite charges in the water, and this brings the stunned Gill Man floating to the surface. They capture their prize and bear him away, but as we know from before Gilly is tougher than he looks...and he needs to be, for guess who is one of the scientists awaiting him back in the USA? JOHN AGAR, that's who! This sweaty regular of a million hokey monster movies is head of the animal behaviour department of the University, where he spends his days (and probably nights) with a chimp named Neil. Sharing Neil's cage is none other than CLINT EASTWOOD!!! in a very early role as a lab assistant. This first sequel to CFTBL is again directed by Jack Arnold and is a fair way to spend some time, unlike the third instalment of Gill Man's adventures, which Sneaky Elephant will present SOON!
