It's barrel-scraping time once again...with THE KILLER SHREWS! Two jolly sailors deliver supplies to an island inhabited by a professor and his daughter. Also present is a young man who is carrying several guns...obviously there is something loose on the island! The prof wants his daughter to go back to the mainland on the return trip, mainly to get her away from the other inhabitants....a token Mexican servant (Si Senor! is his only line) and another science type who babbles on about breeding and 'the Hoskins Factor', whatever that is.The professor is working to make humans half the size they already are, in order to solve the problem of overpopulation....fair enough. But why he has to breed shrews the size of St Bernards is a question unanswered in this story, HE JUST DOES, OK??? A hurricane is coming, so the boat boys decide to stay on land until it all blows over, but they soon regret this when the sinister shrews start spookily and stealthily stalking the sweaty sons of the sea ! In a 'shrew-d' move from the makeup department, the monsters are blatantly nothing more than DOGS WEARING MASKS!!! How cheap is that...This was just one of many wild and woolly monster flicks released in the 50's, typical drive-in stuff for scaring the kids. More from Sneaky Elephant's mousetrap of mayhem SOON!
