THE LAST MAN ON EARTH.....This is the original film version of Richard Matheson's harrowing tale I Am Legend (remade in 2007 with Will Smith). This one stars Vincent Price in the title role, in an excellent display of anguish and determination. Obviously for a 1964 black and white feature, there are no CGI effects but the deserted streets and the reeking fire-pit are just as effective as any computer trickery. The vampires themselves are pretty hammy, but VP more than makes up for it, venturing out with hammer and stakes on his grisly day's work before the sun sets once again. FANTASTIC ENTERTAINMENT!
