IT'S BEHIND YOU! This hokey forerunner to Alien stars Marshall Thompson, the main man in the 60's jungle series Daktari and also the classic Fiend Without a Face. A team of spacemen on Mars is wiped out, and the blame falls on Thompson, their commander. A second crew is dispatched to bring him home to face justice but the real killer, a nasty Martian, sneaks (I like him already!) into the rocket and stows away in the air ducts, emerging occasionally to vent his extraterrestrial bloodlust on the unsuspecting astronauts. One by one the crew are picked off, and the survivors must band together to find and destroy the alien. This movie is typical of its time, featuring plenty of silvery metal and stiff-jawed performances, and the monster himself resembles the Creature From the Black Lagoon, only not nearly as handsome or realistic. His feet especially are a letdown, being particularly scabby looking, and the toothy face is laughable. The weapons the crew use against him are also pretty low-tech...Colt .45 automatics and Garand M1 rifles which were already several decades old even when this was made. Not the worst sci fi film ever, but not the best by a long way.More madness and mayhem from Sneaky Elephant's moth eaten moon rocket SOON!
